Val di Rabbi

The municipality of Rabbi encompasses the entire valley, which also bears the same name, and the Rabbiés stream that runs through the entire valley (the valley is named after the torrent). There are about fifty settlements scattered on both sides of the valley; the most important with the highest population rate are the towns of Pracorno, San Bernardo, Rabbi Fonti and Piazzola.

Livestock farming and naturalistic tourism, in addition to the thermal spa center, are the most important factors of the Val di Rabbi economy. This area is know for its excellent meats and dairy products and the quality and beneficial properties of the ferruginous mountain springs that were already well-known and used during the Austro-Hungarian empire.

These natural resources are protected by the Stelvio National Park, one of the most important protected areas in all of Europe which was established in 1935 and is located between the Trentino-Alto Adige and Lombardy regions.

A visit in Val di Rabbi is also the perfect opportunity to discover the extraordinary beneficial properties of its ferruginous springs, which are used to provide various treatments at the modern thermal spa center located in the town of Rabbi Fonti, where in 1666 the first water spring was discovered.

Visitors also come to this valley to enjoy the natural beauty of the protected surroundings in the Stelvio National Park; for example the Val di Saènt with the famous waterfall and the newly inaugurated itinerary that takes you up to the "Monumental Larches" where you can discover some of the highest and long-lived larch trees in the Trentino region.
